Woot!
I got the new books and was almost immediately off to Emerald City. The con was decent enough. I think I had the advantage of going in with low expectations. Sales were low, but not bad. Networking went really well.
Ultimately I think I touched base with several cool artists. Notably, Erika Moen, Keith Knight, Camilla D'Ericco, David Mack, Steve Rolston, Ed Brisson, and many others.
It also gave me a chance to employ some more more merchandising techniques, which I was pretty happy with.
So Here's hoping these are all good omens for Stumptown 2009! I am so happy to be going back to Portland! One of the greatest cities in the USA! And the best damn Indie comix expo anywhere!
Wish me luck!
Life has been motoring along at it's usual break neck pace. I've been musing at how much and how quickly my life has changed. I am now on my second year at DeSerres and living with a roommate.
I'm feeling more comfortable with things so far. The dull ache of being single is becoming easier to handle.
More importantly though, I have a new book coming out!
We will be taking it to Emerald City and Stumptown. And will also most likely be hitting up APE in October.
Not to mention all kinds of venues and events in Vancouver!

I'm getting geared up for Con season and I hope to have some more interesting posts about my adventures.
cheers!
Well I just wrapped up my second day at emerald city today and I had a blast! The first day was a bit hectic, and I found I got more face time with the artist on the second day. Some highlights were speaking with David Mack, Chris Sprouse and Michael Oeming. I also got some fantastic free sketches from Chris Sprouse and Gene Ha. And I broke down and paid some for a few originals from Mark Bagley and David Mack. And I tried arm wrestling Mike Oeming for some original art, sadly he kicked my ass.
Chris Sprouse was an amazingly friendly and approachable guy, I spent quite a lot of time at his booth on Saturday. David Mack and Mike Oeming were also very nice guys. I also met a girl named Dinana who lives in Whiterock and is on the verge of becoming a proffessional inker. I met her on Saturday night as that we were both staying at the same hostel and were both looking for a good place to grab dinner. We found a nice local pub and I tried some nice micro brewed beer. Afterwards Diana took me to a party with other local Seattle artists for some alchohol fuled madness. Things were great until I was given a deadly blue concoction. Still, we both staggered back to the hostel that night and were able to get up for Sunday.
I am really impressed with this hostel. If you ever are in Seattle look for the Green Tortoise!
Tomorrow I do some normal sightseeing!
Rather that leave this blog mired in 2010 indecision and politics completely, I'll try to lighten things up a little in future.
This weekend I'm heading to Seattle for the Emerald City Comicon. Where I can hopefully ad to my comic artists sketch book, and rub elbows with some editors. Number one on my list of people to meet will be Mark Bagley. He was the first artist I ever really took note of, and is still one of the few who has the work ethic to carry a comic month to month without delays or fill-in artists. I'm also eager to meet David Mack again, especially after reading his phenomenal new run of Kabuki. And just to rationalize to myself that I'm not a total geek I'll be spending an extra day in the city to see the space needle and perhaps EMP. After 26 years I think it's worht really seeing my neighbour to the South.
Tomorrow I'm going to see the Giants in the playoffs against Chilliwack. I'll be taking some of my new Japanese friends from Clubhouse language exchange.
More news to follow.
